ExcelVite is pleased to share a recent Wall Street Journal’s article by reporter Laura Johannes that touches on the health benefits and clinical studies of Malaysian’s palm products , particularly the red palm oil and EVNol SupraBio™ full spectrum palm tocotrienol complex .

The distinct color of Red Palm Oil is rich in phytonutrients naturally found in palm fruits namely, carotenoids (mainly alpha and beta carotene) and tocotrienols as well as phytosterol, plant squalene, and co-enzyme Q10. It also reported that these palm products from Malaysia are ethically- and sustainably-produced.

“According to a 2010 review published in the Journal of American College of Nutrition, scientists in developing countries have found red palm oils to be an effective method of treating vitamin A deficiency, which can lead to blindness,” Johannes wrote.

In the article, Johannes also pointed out the importance of red palm tocotrienols for the cardiovascular system.

A 2-year, 121-subject human study published in 2014 in the peer-reviewed journal Stroke reported that oral supplementation of red palm tocotrienols (EVNol SupraBio™) helps in attenuating brain white matter lesion progression or small areas of damage/ lesion to the brain that lead to cognitive impairment.

“The tocotrienols appear to have had a protective effect resulting in less damage to brain tissues from the strokes”, says principal researcher, Kah Hay Yuen, a professor at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia.

The article also touched on the beneficial effect of Red Palm Tocotrienols in non-alcoholic fatty liver condition (NAFLD), which is an emerging concern in the United States and other countries. NAFLD has been linked to various conditions associated with metabolic syndrome.

“Although red palm oil contains high levels of tocotrienols, you will need to take few hundred grams of the oil to get an appreciable amount of d-mixed tocotrienols for brain and liver benefits as shown in clinical research. Therefore, consuming red palm oil alone for the health benefits of tocotrienols may not be ideal. However. A softgel with red palm tocotrienols concentrate such as EVNol SupraBio™ will help. Such capsules, as dietary supplement, are available in the market,” says ExcelVite.

“We are delighted that the reputable Wall Street Journal has reported our clinical studies on white matter lesions and non-alcoholic fatty liver. However, one needs to understand that not just any generic tocotrienol will provide these benefits. These human studies used EVNol SupraBio™  – a bioenhanced delivery system for tocotrienol that guarantees improved bioavailability and bioefficiency. Consumer may want to take red palm oil for cooking and salad, but if you are specifically looking for brain and liver health, you should consider supplementation with EVNol SupraBio™.” ExcelVite.
